Motorcycles in 250cc class gets a new challenger. Here it is Honda CBR250RR or we call it CBR 2 cylinder. World premiere in Indonesia on July 25, yesterday made a lot of people here compare it to a motorcycle which first appeared on the market. CBR250RR strongest challenger in Indonesia is the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and the Yamaha YZF-R25. Here we show a comparison between the three in terms of physical appearance.
Overall Design
In my opinion, all of them have a similar appearance. CBR250RR has the advantages of rivals such as the application of double muffler and front up side down suspension. Ninja 250 and YZF-R25 headlights still use bulb models which seem somewhat old-fashioned though still have sporty design. A good point from CBR250RR, this bike is already applying the LED headlights model with DRL extra lights which looked like the CBR150R in Indonesia. Forms still exactly the same CBR250RR Honda "Light Weight Super Sports" which was exhibited at the Tokyo Auto Show 2016.
At the bottom, the Ninja 250 and YZF-R25 has the advantage of wheel designs witch are much cooler than the CBR250RR with its 7 spoke models. This means that both the Ninja 250 and the YZF-R25 has a similar design value in my opinion. For the front suspension, CBR250RR has an advantage here. This bike has applied inverted teleskoptic suspension or up-side down models on the front. For Ninja 250 and YZF-R25 are still using conventional models. Same with the front, both Ninja 250 and the YZF-R25 still use conventional swing arm in the rear. For CBR250RR itself, it has semi banana swing arm.
Dashboard
Surely CBR250RR has the most sophisticated design with negative display digital speedometer. Besides appearance, the information displayed here is very informative such as riding modes indicator (sport +, sport and confort). The tachometer it self has 14000 rpm redline and the end at 16000 rpm. This indicating the bikes can be reving so high just like the old JDM CBR250RR in the 80's.
Both Ninja 250 and YZF-R25 is still relying on a combination of a digital speedometer with analogue tachometer complaint. I think it's easier for rider to read the information displayed because the RPM indicator and speedmeter becomes clearer. This is due to the digital speedmeter of Ninja 250 and YZF-R25 has a bright background witch is easily seen. Unfortunately because both bikes do not have as many features as CBR250RR, what is displayed on the dashboard is not as much as CBR250RR. But hey, this is can be counted as advantage because we dont have to see the complicated console and can disturb the riding concentration.
Pillion Seat
This is the another most important part for me. Passenger seats must still have beautiful design but still comfortable. It is important to give your girlfriend a ride (if you have one). At first glance, all of them just have same design and passanger seat position. I am not sure that the new CBR250RR seat will be as comfortable as older CBR250R which I admit is very convenient. Because all of them just have same feel, I consider they just same, so all three have the same value.
The new one is much more perfect than the old one. The conclusion is, CBR250RR although likely to be sold more expensive than the Ninja 250 or YZF-R25, but the available features and a fresh design makes it of more value than its competitors. Honda CBR250RR Design is just as cool as the concept of "Light Weight Super Sports" at the Tokyo Auto Show 2016 but there are still some shortcomings in my opinion such as wheels design and dual muffler that looks too big and not suitable with its tail. Maybe later when the official relese at Wing dealership, there will be appeared an official accessories that can enhance the look of this bike.
