Honda CBR 125R is a smallest Honda CBR series available at market. Introduced in 2004 to replace discontinued NSR lineup. This small 125cc four stroke motorcycle is currently produced along with more powerful CBR 150R for developed market in Asia.
In the past september 2014, Honda launched a new motorcycle called All New Honda CBR 150R which have been produced in Indonesia. The CBR is produced in Indonesia as Honda Motor Corp. has moved its base of mopeds and small motor production from Thailand to Indonesia. This migration is done after the Astra Honda Motor Indonesia manufacturing plant number 5 has been completed.
Along with the migration of production bases, Honda also changed and re design the CBR150R. Honda claims the CBR 150R design is inspired by the Honda CBR 1000RR Supersport. In other way, this bike's body has a similarity with the new face lifted CBR250R which has been sold in other markets since 2013. Not only is the body that are similar, the main frame used is also similar with CBR250R. The CBR150R uses Truss Frame replaced the Twin Spar Frame. The rear suspension is also replaced by Honda Pro-Link suspension.
Using a 2013-2014 MotoGP world champion, Marc Marquez as a brand ambassador, Indonesian Honda sold this bike worth 28 million rupiah, or about 2150 US Dollars. The engine used was the same as the CBR150R which was introduced in 2011. A 4 stroke engine DOHC 4-valve 149cc Liquid Cooled with a 6 speed that can generate power up to 12,6Kw or 16Hp. The difference with the old version is just on the size of the rear gear ratio.
In Indonesia this motorcycle competing with Yamaha YZF R15 and Minerva Shacs RX150.
With this major change is it possible for Honda CBR 125cc will change as well? Currently Honda CBR125R still be sold using the designs inspired from the Honda VFR. The CBR150R has been exported to Vietnam in small numbers as a test market before being sold worldwide.
